IMPROVING PRONUNCIATION THROUGH SHADOWING TECHNIQUES IN A2–B1 LEARNERS
This exploratory action research investigates the effectiveness of shadowing techniques in improving the pronunciation and fluency of A2–B1 level English learners in a public secondary school in Uzbekistan. The exploratory phase identified learners' key pronunciation challenges and their attitudes toward speaking. In the action phase, students participated in regular shadowing activities using short audio recordings of native speakers over a period of five weeks. Results show notable improvement in students' pronunciation clarity, fluency, and speaking confidence. The study suggests that shadowing is a low-cost, high-impact method for enhancing oral language skills in EFL settings, especially where opportunities for authentic interaction are limited.
