Study of conflict in Belarusian society among pro-democratic groups: Belarus, Poland, Lithuania (Formula of Humanity Working Paper)

This report presents the results of a sociological study on internal conflict within Belarusian pro-democratic groups, both inside the country and among diaspora communities in Poland and Lithuania. The research explores the roots of tensions, mechanisms of polarization, and patterns of interaction under conditions of prolonged political crisis and forced emigration. It identifies key fault lines—ranging from repression experiences to differing modes of activism and visions for the future—and documents efforts to cope with mutual distrust, burnout, and fragmented solidarity.Using qualitative interviews and expert analysis, the study offers a nuanced picture of post-2020 Belarusian society, highlighting how collective trauma, exile, and political divergence shape relations within and across democratic networks. This report is relevant for scholars, policymakers, and civil society actors engaged in diaspora mobilization, transitional justice, and community resilience.
