A Study on Business Economics in the Banking and Financial Service Sectors in India
This study investigates the pivotal role played by the Indian banking sector in driving the growth and diversification of the service sector. As the Indian economy transitions into a more service-oriented model, banks act as financial intermediaries, investment facilitators, and innovation enablers. Through policy lending, digital banking, financial inclusion, and credit expansion, banks support other service-based industries such as IT, telecom, education, health, and retail. This research uses both qualitative and quantitative analyses, drawing on RBI data, economic surveys, and sectoral reports. The study finds that banking significantly influences the trajectory of service sector expansion, though challenges like credit concentration, rural exclusion, and technological gaps remain. Strengthening the banking sector could unlock the next phase of India’s service-led growth story.
