DEVELOPING RUBRICS FOR ASSESSING LEXICAL COMPETENCE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL LEARNERS
Assessing lexical competence in primary school learners is essential for their language development. Lexical competence refers to the ability to recognize and use words effectively in different contexts. Traditional assessment methods, such as written tests or quizzes, may fail to capture the full extent of a student's vocabulary skills. This article explores the development and implementation of rubrics as an effective tool for assessing lexical competence in primary school learners. It highlights the benefits, challenges, and strategies for using rubrics to assess vocabulary knowledge and support vocabulary development.
