A Comparative Analysis of the Financial Performance of Selected Healthcare Service Companies in India
Abstract: This study analyzes the financial performance of selected healthcare companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange, focusing on key profitability and liquidity ratios over a five-year period (2019-2024). The companies examined include Max Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Global Health, and Narayana Hrudayalaya. The analysis of profitability ratios such as Gross Profit Ratio, Operating Profit Ratio, and Net Profit Ratio reveals significant variations in cost efficiency and operational performance across the companies. Max Healthcare and Global Health show relatively better margins, while Fortis Healthcare and Apollo Hospitals face challenges in maintaining profitability. Liquidity ratios, including the Acid Test Ratio and Current Ratio, highlight notable differences in the companies' ability to meet short-term obligations, with Fortis Healthcare showing consistent liquidity issues. The study concludes that there are significant differences in both the profitability and liquidity positions of the selected healthcare companies.
