IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE ON ROLE AMBIGUITY OF EMPLOYEES IN UNIVERSITIES ON AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES IN ODISHA

Abstract: This study examines the impact of organizational climate on role ambiguity among employees in universities specializing in agricultural sciences. Organizational climate is defined as the shared perceptions of the work environment, team work, and importance of individuals in the university. Role ambiguity, which arises when employees face incompatible demands or expectations, can lead to decreased job satisfaction, increased stress, and reduced productivity. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzes survey data from faculty and administrative staff across several agricultural universities in Odisha. The findings indicate that a positive organizational climate, characterized by work environment, teamwork, and the importance of individuals in the university, significantly reduces role ambiguity. The study highlights the importance of fostering a supportive and transparent organizational climate to minimize role ambiguity, enhance employee well-being, and improve institutional performance. Recommendations are provided for university administrators to implement strategies that promote a healthier work environment, thereby reducing the negative impacts of role ambiguity on employees in universities in agricultural sciences in Odisha.
