Principles of compiling Dictionary of Donetsk speech

The article deals with the methodology and development of a new lexical resource, which is the "Dictionary of Donetsk Speech". The significance of this research stems from the fact that it represents the first comprehensive analysis of the linguistic features of Donetsk residents' speech. The dictionary covers a variety of lexical layers, including dialectal terms, professional jargon, military terminology, linguoculturally significant words, and colloquial expressions. The compilation of the dictionary was made possible thanks to the Donetsk dialect theory, developed by professor V.I. Terkulov. The research employs general scientific and linguistic methodologies: descriptive (utilized to form a comprehensive understanding of the regional dialect as a system underlying the creation of the dictionary, while collecting theoretical material on varieties of lexical materials for the publication), comparative (enabling the establishment of similarities and differences among various groups of vocabulary), classification (employed to create a typology of lexical materials), the method of lexicographic structuring (necessary for creating the structure of the entry and a detailed lexicographic description), and sociolinguistic methods (conducted during the stage of audience research to select lexical items for inclusion in the dictionary). The "Dictionary of Donetsk Speech" is a vital publication for the investigation and description of linguistic, cultural, and linguocultural identity of people in the Donbass region.
