Las personas mayores quilombolas: ¿Una doble invisibilidad?
According to the UN, population aging is one of the most important social transformations of the 21st century. However, this aging process, due to social and racial inequalities in Brazil, is not homogeneous for all population groups. Based on the principles of the Global Plan for the Decade of Healthy Aging 2021-2030, we will attempt to analyze in this paper the situation of the mayors of the Quilombola Community of Santa Luzia de Poacê in Jambuaçu (Pará). Fieldwork will be conducted in addition to bibliographic analysis with a qualitative approach. The analysis, as also seen in the latest Population Census of 2022, demonstrates the need for positive actions by the State to improve the quality of life of quilombola communities, which includes, of course, the older adults living there.
