An Investigation into the Relationship between Body Posture and Quality of Life among Information Technology Professionals in Pune City

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between body posture and the quality of life of IT professionals from Pune City. For which 87 IT Professionals were selected using purposive sampling. The descriptive Correlational method was used to correlate Body Posture and Quality of Life of IT Professionals from Pune City. The AI Posture Evaluation and Correction System (APECS Software, Saneftec, 2017) was used to collect data on Body Posture and WHOQOL-BREF Questionnaire was used to collect data on Quality of Life. The data were collected using standard tools and techniques, and further analysed using SPSS software. The Mean of the Body Posture (Head-Neck and Trunk Symmetry) was 64.39 (±8.443) &10.37 (±5.718), respectively, and the Mean of Quality of Life was 58.59 (±9.967). The researcher met every participant using the APECS software and filled the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire using the pen paper method and also used Google Forms to collect data. Furthermore, for inferential statistics, the Coefficient of Correlation was computed, and the Pearson Correlation Method was used. The calculated coefficients of correlation for quality of life with head-neck analysis and trunk symmetry was (-0.110 and 0.093) respectively. The results show, that the calculated significant two tailed value has not significant at 0.05 level of significance (p= 0.310 & 0.390). Hence, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between Body Posture and Quality of Life of IT Professionals from Pune City.
