Innovating Contemporary Mosaic based on the concept of the Circular Economy to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030

ABSTRACTModern environmental, social, and economic shifts have intensified the need toevolve traditional plastic arts, especially mosaic art. This evolution involvesrethinking materials, methods, and artistic approaches to align with contemporarycreativity and sustainability. Such development supports resource preservation whileencouraging innovation rooted in tradition. This research tests two hypotheses: first, that the circular economy can guide thecreation of sustainable mosaic works aligned with Saudi Vision 2030; second, thatthis model fosters environmentally aware and artistically innovative mosaic art. Thestudy aims to explore the circular economy’s relevance to Vision 2030 and howsustainability can be achieved through innovation in contemporary art.The research includes a practical component based on the researcher’s experience.Mosaic pieces were created using recycled materials like paper, glass, and plastic, applying techniques that promote sustainability through creative expression. Thisapproach supports the national economy by replacing the traditional linear model withcircular practices. The study concludes that contemporary mosaic art can contribute to the nationaleconomy through recycling and waste reduction. It recommends adoptingsustainability within the circular economy and producing mosaics using locallysourced, recycled materials.
