ONE RULE, MANY FAITHS: THE GOLDEN RULE AS A BRIDGE FOR INTERRELIGIOUS UNDERSTANDING
Abstract This paper, One Rule, Many Faiths: The Golden Rule as a Bridge for Interreligious Understanding, examines the Golden Rule as a shared ethical foundation across Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Drawing on sacred texts, theological commentary, and initiatives like A Common Word Between Us and You, it demonstrates the Rule’s role in fostering empathy, justice, and peacebuilding. The study provides comparative analysis and case studies showing how the Golden Rule transforms interreligious dialogue into practical cooperation. It also addresses challenges such as ethical relativism, theological exclusivity, and limitations in conflict zones. Ultimately, the paper argues that the Golden Rule remains a vital principle for promoting mutual respect and peaceful coexistence in the twenty-first century.
