The article attempts to determine the number of historical and cultural monuments in the Chernihiv region damaged as a result of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops, as well as during missile attacks from the territory of the aggressor state. The authors focused mainly on immovable heritage objects: monuments of history, architecture and art, with the exception of archaeological monuments. This is explained by the difficulty of surveying the territory where active hostilities have recently taken place, due to the risk of mine-explosive injuries caused by the dense mining of the territory and the threat of enemy shelling, because the communities of the region bordering the Russian Federation are still under constant enemy attacks. So far, the objects of cultural heritage of the regional center have suf-fered the greatest losses: enemy aircraft and artillery damaged numerous structures – monuments of local and national importance, entered in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. It is worth noting that the historical landscape of Chernihiv region repeatedly suffered significant cultural losses in the 20th century: as a result of hostilities during the Second World War and the state antireligious policy of the 1930s–50s, aimed, among other things, at the destruction of monu-ments of sacred architecture. The purpose of the article is to generalize and systematize information available in the public space about the consequences of the Russian invasion for the cultural heritage of the region, to form a basic list necessary for cataloging damaged monuments. Relying on general scientific methods of synthesis and analysis, and using the historical-systemic method, we analyzed the published testimonies of eyewitnesses regarding the destruction of cultural heritage objects by the troops of the aggressor state, formed a generalized list of such monu-ments, and illustrated the most damaged buildings with the available photo materials. Keywords: Russian-Ukrainian war, monuments of history and culture, Chernihiv region, Chernihiv.
