Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing multiple industries, including academic libraries. In India, academic libraries in the higher education sector are adopting AI to enhance information retrieval, streamline library operations, and improve user experiences. This study explores the current applications of AI in Indian academic libraries, the challenges faced in its implementation, and the potential future developments. It examines how AI tools such as chatbots, AI-driven search algorithms, and predictive analytics are being integrated into library systems. The study also highlights the need for improved digital infrastructure and skilled personnel to fully harness AI's potential in this sector.
