In Silico World D5.6 - Information Package and Lecturing Materials

The objective of In Silico World (ISW) project is to lower a number of barriers that slow down the adoption of in silico trial technologies. Among the various barriers, poorly informed stakeholders continue to remain a stumbling block in the awareness and adoption of in silico technologies within the healthcare systems. To alleviate this problem, there is a growing need for comprehensive information and education materials for all involved stakeholders, such as regulators, patients, healthcare professionals, etc. Healthcare professionals (HCPs) that encompass both medical practitioners and those from allied healthcare professions like imaging technologists, are cornerstone stakeholders for in silico technologies, as they act as champions, gatekeepers and end-users of the in silico solutions. The preliminary policy brief (D5.5. Policy Brief) from ISW project acknowledged challenges associated with engaging and empowering HCPs. It recommended the creation and delivery of tailored information packages for HCPs, which bundle useful information and resources like self-reading introductory material, glossaries, case studies, success stories, etc. and accredited lecture materials to empower healthcare professionals to familiarize themselves with and adopt in silico trial technologies. This deliverable presents ready-to-use three information packages and one set of lecture materials. They are set to offer basic understanding, awareness for medical students as well as healthcare professionals, who are new to in silico technologies. They are consciously presented in layman’s terms, to lower the barrier of understanding for non-technical readers. The packages and lecture materials presented as individual chapters, which can be used as standalone materials for self-reading and/or to steer professionals peer-to-peer discussions on in silico trial technologies. The lecture materials are offered through e-learning platform, whereby groups of HCPs or individuals can self-enrol themselves. These introductory lectures are structured into three modules with comprehensive example cases from ISW project. The packages assimilated in this deliverable are meant to offer not only impactful information around in silico medicine and in silico technologies, but also introduce HCPs to continuous education programs. Thus, offer opportunity to deepen their knowledge for professional practice, whereby the mutual understanding and collaboration between the in silico community and HCPs can be strengthened.
