Enhancing Trust in Cloud Infrastructures: An In-Depth Examination of Security Protocols and Privacy Mechanisms
Abstract—The rapid rise of IoT and cloud computing has brought growing security and privacy concerns. The Cloud of Things (CoT), which merges cloud computing with IoT, enables efficient data storage and processing but also introduces new vulnerabilities. However, because of shared computing resources, this integration creates vulnerabilities like data breaches, privacy issues, and unauthorized access. This study examines security threats in cloud computing and CoT systems, closely examines these problems, and evaluates the impact they have on user confidence and data integrity. It also discusses effective mitigation strategies and privacy-preserving solutions to enhance the security of cloud-based systems. By looking at present infrastructures, applications, and forthcoming developments, this study provides helpful insights for academics and practitioners navigating the evolving cloud environment. Safety concerns become more serious as CoT grows, and traditional methods find it difficult to maintain dynamic, multi-tenant circumstances. Risks are increased by massive information flows and shared resources, requiring strong encryption, anomaly detection, and authentication. Safeguarding user data requires following to laws like the CCPA and GDPR. Blockchain, AI-powered threat detection, and zero-trust models are examples of emerging technologies that provide powerful solutions that improve security, trust, and the smooth implementation of CoT across sectors.
