AgriSense: Smart Farming Assistant
The increasing demand for efficient and sustainable agricultural practices has led to the adoption of innovative technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). These technologies are reshaping traditional farming methods by providing real-time data on key environmental and soil conditions. This paper explores the integration of IoT and WSN frameworks into agriculture, focusing on their applications in areas such as soil moisture monitoring, pest control, and irrigation optimization. Communication protocols like ZigBee, Wi-Fi, SigFox, and LoRaWAN are discussed alongside emerging technologies like RFID and printed sensors. While these systems offer significant benefits, they also face challenges related to energy efficiency, data accuracy, and scalability. This research highlights these challenges and proposes solutions, using AgriSense as a case study to demonstrate the practical application of IoT in enhancing productivity, reducing resource consumption, and promoting sustainable agriculture.
