European countries that built their nationhood through modernity tried to bring countries in other continents of the world under their rule. The term colonialism refers to the fact that they were ruled in this way. Asian and African countries that were freed from European colonial slavery built their nationhood around colonialism after their independence. Postmodernism was proposed to address the shortcomings of modernity in Europe, where modern government and politics had reached their full potential. Colonial state power occupied the land and also permeated the thoughts of the people of the country that was under colonial rule. Therefore, the way of thinking proposed by countries that gained political independence from colonial power to free themselves from colonialism is called postcolonialism. The main purpose of this article is to explain the postcolonial theatrical activities of one such postcolonial thinker, Koogi Wa Thiango, and to study their relevance in the Tamil context.
