Bridging Disciplines Through Mathematics How Researchers across Fields Use Mathematical Tools to Decode Complexity and Drive Innovation
Abstract Modern interdisciplinary research confronts increasingly tangled systems social hierarchies, environmental degradation, and technological disruptions that demand analytical precision. This paper explores how mathematical frameworks, from network theory to optimization algorithms, act as universal translators across disciplines, unravelling complexity and sparking innovation. By dissecting case studies like caste-based reservation system in India and AI-driven educational reforms in Maharashtra, the study maps how tools such as modularity optimization and linear programming outperform traditional methods, achieving cost efficiencies and robust clustering. Beyond technical insights, the work underscores mathematics’ role as a collaborative bridge, offering policymakers and researchers strategies to tackle fragmented problems.
