The Contribution of Volunteering Fields to the Training and Development of Essential Life Skills
Contemporary society demands, perhaps more obviously than ever, the application of an increasingly complex set of procedural knowledge, concrete skills with practical answers, and the ability to navigate the challenges and trials of everyday life. In this sense, considering the priority areas of deployment, volunteering is particularly useful, since it actively involves children and young people in various experiences based on four central pillars of action: to be, to know, to do, and to live together with others, encouraging thus a flexible and progressive mentality, oriented towards carving up an individual life path and achieving one’s development goals by the time of adulthood.
