Complex femininity – the influence of women’s emancipation movements on Barbara Zbrożyna’s sculptural work Present work is constituted within the sculptural works of Barbara Zbrożyna. The analysis of historical events influencing the formation of contemporary women’s sculpture in Poland was used to decode the particular content contained in her works. The artist was born in the interwar period, a time of increased struggle of women for their rights. The article presents the historical antecedents related to women’s emancipation. The influence of the emancipation movements on the development of Polish contemporary sculpture is also analyzed. These events had a huge impact on the formation of the phenomenon of women sculptors with extraordinary artistic talent in post-war Poland. One of them is Barbara Zbrożyna.
