THE EXPERIENCE OF INTERREGIONAL MIGRATION OF NORTHEAST STUDENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE IN PSYCHOLOGY
The study aims to understand the academic trajectory of Northeastern Brazilian female scientists who undertook the process of inter-regional migration to pursue postgraduate studies in Psychology. This research adopts a qualitative, descriptive approach, utilizing Oral History methodology through the lens of thematic oral history. The study included nine researchers, one from each state in the Northeast. The main findings indicate that the primary reasons for migration include the pursuit of a solid theoretical education, opportunities for scholarships, and the quality of the postgraduate programs. Furthermore, xenophobic discourse within institutions was reported. Additionally, the study highlights the need for educational policies that promote scientific equity across Brazil's regions, as well as intersectional affirmative policies aimed at strengthening Northeastern women in postgraduate Psychology programs.
