Neoliberal Fantasies and the Star Dust Machine: Grant Culture, Mediocre Collectivism, and the Managed Mind
This article explores how neoliberal academic institutions foster intellectual stagnation through a bureaucratized culture of grants, workshops, and “thinking” exercises. Under the guise of inclusion, community, and development, young minds are entangled in hollow collectivist rituals and the institutional capture of critical potential. Drawing on Marxist critique, psychoanalysis, and anarchist theory, this paper examines the performative structures that replace genuine thought with “sponsored thinking,” arguing that neoliberal academic culture disincentivizes individual trajectories and rewards intellectual compliance.
