The Role of Technology in Enhancing Physical Education: A Study on Wearable Devices and Virtual PE Classes

Abstract Traditional approaches to teaching and evaluating physical exercise have changed as a result of the use of technology into physical education (PE). This project investigates how virtual physical education courses and wearable fitness technology may improve student engagement, track physical performance, and advance general health literacy. Wearable technology, such smartwatches and fitness trackers, makes it possible to measure steps, heart rate, and calories burnt in real time, giving teachers and student’s instant feedback. Physical education is becoming more accessible in remote and hybrid learning models thanks to virtual PE courses, which provide dynamic, adaptable, and customised training settings. This research investigates the effects of these technologies on student motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes using a mixed-methods approach that includes surveys, interviews, and performance data analysis. According to the research, integrating technology into physical education lessons not only improves their efficacy but also helps kids develop lifetime exercise habits and an awareness of digital health.
