ELON MUSK, LGBT-RIGHT POPULISM, AND THE EMANCIPATORY POTENTIAL OF A NEW GERMAN POLITICS
Introduction Western democracies are undergoing a systemic crisis. Germany is among the most striking examples. Liberals and conservatives, who have played the roles of "good cop and bad cop" for decades, have lost touch with the electorate. In this vacuum, new forces are emerging: technological billionaires, radically free-market right-wingers, and politicians who shatter conventional labels. At the center of this transformation stands an unexpected duo: Elon Musk and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, led by Alice Weidel—a lesbian, technocrat, and leader of a party that is simultaneously conservative and socio-libertarian. How did it happen that one of the world’s most famous entrepreneurs openly supports a party that liberal media stubbornly label "unacceptable"? Why are Germans, who traditionally voted for the safety of the political center, increasingly drawn to a political force whose leaders despise bureaucracy but demand a strong state? And, most importantly, can Weidel—a woman who defies both right-wing and LGBT political stereotypes—embody the new German political myth?
