The Mysterious Theft from Davide and Anna's Antiques Shop

The PITCHER project (Erasmus+ Programme, 2021-2024) designed and tested a set of Open Educational Resources focused on improving the capacity of teachers and educators in preparing new learning experiences to support the fight against archaeological looting and illicit trafficking of cultural goods. This learning unit model aims to raise awareness among middle and high school students about the value of cultural heritage and its protection, particularly against theft and illicit trafficking of cultural property.Teachers are first encouraged to organize museum visits and art restoration laboratory tours so students can realize the value of cultural heritage and engage with professionals to better understand the vulnerability of heritage and how to preserve it. Students then create a video interview with a real or fictional person who has experienced cultural property theft. In addition to preparing questions and filming with smartphones, students also explore the technical aspects of video editing using standard programs.Highly interdisciplinary, this resource can be applied in history, art history, literature, civic education, and technology classes.
