D3.1: Technology and edge processing enablers, and service processing optimisation solutions (1st version)

This deliverable presents the first outcomes from 3 tasks, namely T3.1 “Technology Enablers for Connectivity in Remote Areas”, T3.2 “Edge Processing Enablers” and T3.3 “Service Processing Optimisation and Green ICT”. This deliverable serves as an initial report of D3.1 on Month 10 and will be complemented and enhanced by a second deliverable (Version 2) which will be reported in Month 26. More specifically the document is divided logically into three main sections: 1. Classification of state-of-the art communication solutions into access and transport and the collection of relevant KPIs and specifications. 2. Classification of state-of-the art edge computing solutions into Extreme, Far, Near edge, as well as the collection of relevant KPIs and specifications. 3. Algorithmic techniques for the optimisation of both computation and communications resources, based on rural Use Case requirements and the information gathered in the aforementioned sections.
