Geomorphological Studies of Hire River Basin: Belgaum District, Karnataka
Abstract The area that collects precipitation water and transports it to a bigger lake, stream, or ocean is known as a drainage basin. It is an area that is bounded by a drainage divide and covered by a drainage network. The upstream drainage basin rejects the upstream geology and hydrologic character of the watershed by supplying water and sediment to the lower portions. This study's morphometric analysis is quantitatively carried out using ARC GIS 10.0, a very strong and user-friendly program that measures basin length, basin area, stream order, stream length, circular area of basin, and automatically creates drainage networks. fragments in the drainage network's delineation, basin formation, stream length, flow direction, and stream orders. Mapping, statistics, analysis, and output display are all completed with the ArcGIS approach. GIS research enables the most current, accurate, and dependable database on land resources. In determining geo-morphometric parameters, it has also proven to be quite helpful. The base map, elevation map, and base map of the Hire basin are prepared in the current study using GIS software.
