A Study on Operation of Boiler Feed Pump Using Plc System
The automation of industrial processes has become essential in ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety. This research focuses on the operation and control of a boiler feed pump using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system. Boiler feed pumps play a critical role in maintaining the water level in boilers, thereby ensuring optimal steam generation and preventing equipment damage due to dry running or overfilling. Traditionally, these pumps were manually controlled or operated using relay-based logic, which posed challenges in terms of flexibility and fault diagnosis. In this study, a Siemens PLC is used to automate the control of the boiler feed pump, incorporating real-time monitoring of water level, temperature, and pressure parameters. The system design includes sensor integration, ladder logic programming, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) visualization. The implementation not only enhances operational precision and reduces human intervention but also improves the overall safety and efficiency of the boiler system. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the PLC-based system in maintaining desired operational parameters with quick response to varying process conditions.
