Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting Program Alumni: A Tracer Study
The study is focused on exploring the employability of graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting. It aims to analyze their educational histories, activities undertaken after graduation, and their employment status. It seeks to assess the effectiveness of undergraduate programs in enhancing skill development and the relevance of the curriculum to their career paths. A tracer study detailing the educational and professional trajectories of graduates is essential for understanding the impact of their academic experiences. The study utilized stratified sampling techniques, examining graduates from 2018 to 2022 to ensure diverse representation. Out of 121 graduates from the Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting program 107 respondents participated in the study. The sample size of 107 was calculated using the S’lovin formula. The researchers conducted comprehensive statistical analysis on the collected data. An online platform was utilized to distribute the survey questionnaire, which proved to be highly effective given that people today spend much of their time on social media. The analysis revealed that the Civil Service Examination was the most prevalent certification, with 15%, while 1.9% is the Certified Public Management Accountants. Career decisions were significantly impacted by failing the BSA qualifying exam (38.3%) and peer influence (33.2%). Findings indicated that 70.7% of graduates were employed, underlining the impact of skill mismatches on job satisfaction. Furthermore, 10% of respondents indicated a preference for training in “Bookkeeping,” demonstrating a notable interest in this skill set. Additionally, 76.6 are employed locally indicating that only a minority of respondents are employed outside their home country. The data also highlighted the institution's role in fostering personal growth, as values such as environmental responsibility and commitment to societal service significantly influenced graduates’ professional behavior. In conclusion, this tracer study highlights the diverse factors impacting graduates’ career choices and the important role of education in fostering competent professionals.
