THE IMPACT OF AI TOOLS (CHATGPT) ON SECOND LANGUAGE LEARNING

This study examines the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, specifically ChatGPT, in facilitating second language (L2) learning. AI-driven language models like ChatGPT offer interactive and adaptive learning experiences, enabling learners to improve vocabulary acquisition, grammar comprehension, pronunciation, and cultural understanding. Employing a mixed-method approach, the study investigates ChatGPT’s efficacy through pre-and post-tests and qualitative feedback from learners and educators. Results demonstrate significant improvements in learner confidence, fluency, and engagement, albeit with challenges such as over-reliance, ethical concerns, and limited emotional nuance. The paper concludes by recommending a blended pedagogical framework that leverages human-AI collaboration for optimal learning outcomes. Keywords:Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, Second Language Learning, Natural Language Processing, Personalized Learning, Educational Technology, Language Proficiency

Abstract

This study examines the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, specifically ChatGPT, in facilitating second language (L2) learning. AI-driven language models like ChatGPT offer interactive and adaptive learning experiences, enabling learners to improve vocabulary acquisition, grammar comprehension, pronunciation, and cultural understanding. Employing a mixed-method approach, the study investigates ChatGPT’s efficacy through pre-and post-tests and qualitative feedback from learners and educators. Results demonstrate significant improvements in learner confidence, fluency, and engagement, albeit with challenges such as over-reliance, ethical concerns, and limited emotional nuance. The paper concludes by recommending a blended pedagogical framework that leverages human-AI collaboration for optimal learning outcomes. Keywords:Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, Second Language Learning, Natural Language Processing, Personalized Learning, Educational Technology, Language Proficiency
