Infectious Diseases: A Global Health Perspective on Prevention, Treatment, and Emerging Threats
Abstract Infectious diseases remain a persistent global health challenge, contributing significantly to morbidity and mortality rates, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Caused by a wide range of pathogenic organisms—including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites—these diseases can spread rapidly through various transmission routes. The increasing frequency of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, coupled with antimicrobial resistance and climate-driven vector expansion, underscores the urgent need for robust preventive strategies and global cooperation. This article explores the classification, transmission, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases, while also highlighting the significance of vaccination, public health infrastructure, and novel technological solutions. The comprehensive review emphasizes the importance of a unified global health response in addressing current and future infectious disease threats.
