IMAGES OF PLANTS IN LESIA UKRAINKA'S COLLECTION "THOUGHTS AND DREAMS"
Lesya Ukrainka was among the authors who understood the inseparable connection between humans and nature. Moreover, she perceived the natural world as more harmonious than the human world, capable of inspiring, perfecting humans, and fostering their self-development. The study of plant imagery in the author's works is an interesting scientific problem that we began to address in the material of her first poetry collection, "On the Wings of Songs." This article continues the analysis of plant imagery in the texts of her second collection, "Thoughts and Dreams," which became the object of our interest. It turns out that the number of such images is greater in "Thoughts and Dreams." In Lesya Ukrainka's poetry, plants acquire different symbolic meanings depending on the mood and emotions of the lyrical heroine. Sometimes the origins of the symbolism are hidden in Ukrainian, ancient Greek, or ancient Crimean myths and legends. The author often uses images of trees and flowers to denote foreign lands or home (homeland).
