Digital Curation: Investigating the Learning Engagement Strategies of Grade Eight Learners
In today’s evolving educational landscape, technology is copying a new frontier that redefines how learners access and interact with information. This qualitative study explores the experiences of secondary school teachers in using digital curation and its influence on the learning engagement strategies of Grade eight students. A phenomenological approach involving in-depth interviews with ten participants was employed, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study addressed three core questions: teachers’ experiences and coping strategies with digital curation in fostering engagement, as well as insights from educational management. Data analysis revealed prominent themes, including innovative instruction and technological constraints for teacher experiences. In terms of coping strategies, teachers utilize collaborative practices, demonstrate technological adaptability, and maintain a strong focus on student-centered engagement. The study also highlighted insights into the growth of digital literacy and the potential for personalized learning. The findings indicate that digital curation fosters creativity and enhances classroom engagement when supported by adequate resources and training. It focusses on its role in education, research, and its impact on learning and information access. Ultimately, the study offers vital insights for educational management on how to effectively support the integration of digital literacy creating a more engaging and effective academic environment.
