Introduction Charipunia Beel, a significant floodplain wetland situated in the Morigaon district of Assam, encompasses an area of approximately 7 hectares. It represents an essential ecological and socio-economic resource for the surrounding region. The beel provides direct livelihood support to around 250 families, predominantly belonging to the indigenous Tiwa community, who have been traditionally dependent on its aquatic resources for generations. Fishing activities form the backbone of their daily subsistence and economic well-being, supplemented by seasonal farming and other wetland-based occupations.
