Reevaluating the Long- Term Safety of Protein isolates in healthy populations
Protein isolates, particularly whey protein, have become a ubiquitous component of dietarysupplementation, especially among adolescents and gym-going populations. Despite theirshort-term benefits in muscle recovery and growth, the long-term metabolic impact of routine use inhealthy individuals remains poorly studied. Drawing a parallel to the history of refined sugar andinfant formula, this commentary argues for a cautious, evidence-based approach to the widespreadpromotion and use of protein isolates.
