Nuclear vs Lithium-Ion Batteries in Smartphones: A Comparative Study in E-Waste Management Perspective

Abstract-In their pursuit of new sustainable and efficient energy sources necessary for charging portable electronic devices, endeavours scale up. With an emphasis on how well-suited each is for smartphones, this abstract compares and contrasts two well-known competitors: Other forms of batteries include lithium-ion batteries which are also used for charging, and nuclear batteries which charge even longer. Due to such benefits, nuclear batteries could be considered as a genuine contender to lithium-ion batteries which were universally favoured before such contenders. The chief emergent constructs for the present study are prior safety, perceived climatic temperature, energy-to-volume density, and feasible arrangement of incorporated smartphones. Taking all this research into consideration, one arrives at the conclusion that although at the moment lithium-ion battery power sources remain the most used ones and nuclear battery power sources offer certain interesting potential for the transfiguration of energy storage of smartphones. I agree with Chinanu that there are several issues with nuclear batteries: safety is one of them and the other issues that come with the miniaturization process as much as the benefits that come with the process cannot be overemphasized. Therefore, the stress is made on all these questions as the fact that one can prove that further research and development of technology is needed if one wants to cope with the challenges and unveil all the benefits of using nuclear batteries for the smartphones.
