Metal composition of bronze coins from Thrace

In a destructive study involving XRF analyses and electrical conductivity measurements, a non-destructivemethod for determining the composition of ancient bronze coins was developed (Hourmouziadis2017). This article summarises data on Classical and Hellenistic coins from Abdera and Maroneia usedfor this purpose, providing measurement results for both their patinated surface and core material. Thenewly developed non-destructive method was then tested on three coin types of the Thracian king Teres III.
