"Awake but Not Alive: The Hidden Epidemic of Student Mental Health"
Description: In today’s fast-paced academic world, mental health issues among students have reached alarming levels. My research, “Trauma, Depression, and Academic Stress: The Link to Sleep Disorders and Reliance on Sleeping Pills in Students,” dives deep into the silent struggles many of us face. Drawing from personal experiences and conversations with peers, I shed light on how trauma and stress are not just individual battles but societal issues that affect our well-being and academic performance. The research reveals startling statistics: counseling services on campuses have seen an unprecedented 40% increase in demand over the past decade, a clear indication that more students are seeking help for their mental health. But amidst this surge, the lack of awareness and support for student mental health remains glaring. Through my exploration, I address the root causes of sleep disorders and the troubling reliance on sleeping pills as coping mechanisms. I also share actionable strategies that have helped me and others reclaim our mental health, such as prioritizing physical activity, engaging in hobbies, and fostering meaningful social connections. Join me on this journey as we unravel the complexities of student life, explore the impacts of mental health, and discover how we can create a supportive community for one another. Together, we can foster resilience and advocate for a culture that prioritizes mental well-being.
