Entomoculiini Coiffait, 1957 Diagnosis. Mandibles lacking premolar tooth; antennae with 10 or 11 antennomeres; all visible tergites with well-defined paratergites; deep, basal transversal sulcus at least on visible abdominal sternite 5, except for Romanotyphlus and Paratyphlus where it is present also on visible sternites 2–4, later genus known from northern Africa, Balearic Islands, Iberian Peninsula and Sardinia); maxillary palpi with palpomere 2 strongly dilated, distinctly larger than palpomere 3. Remarks. Entomoculiini with seven genera and 256 valid species names is the second most speciose tribe of the subfamily. It has exclusively west Palaearctic distribution and is known from the whole Mediterranean region, going from Portugal up to Turkey, northern Africa, Romania and now also from Serbia. Three Balkan genera, (the distribution Figs 89, 90) can be separated by the following key: 1 All tarsi with three tarsomeres............................................................ Allotyphlus Coiffait - All tarsi with two tarsomeres............................................................................ 2 2 Antennal club composed of two antennomeres; antennomere 5 about as large as 4 and 6; aedeagus symmetric; parameres strongly enlarged, largely covering distal part of median lobe.................................
