"The Dilemma of Political and Social Relations Between the Chinese Government and the Uyghur People During Deng Xiaoping's Reign" (1978 - 1989)

This research probes the Uyghur people in Xinjiang during thereform period, from 1978 when Deng Xiaoping came to power in Chinauntil his resignation in 1989, in both political, socio-economic and culturalthemes. The research also reviews the interconnection of each of thepreferential policies enacted by the government for the benefit of the Uyghurpeople, with the aim of Sinicizing and integrating them into Chinese society,with the consolidation of the condescending look that the Han people directtowards the Uyghur people in which they view from the perspective of “theother.”
