Pedagogical Dimensions of an Intercultural Approach to Language Learning
The study explores the role of intercultural approaches in enhancing motivation and competence in reading foreign language texts. Using a survey for intermediate-level EFL learners, the research investigates how culturally rich materials influence attitudes, foster intercultural awareness, and emphasize the need for effective reading strategies. The findings show up that culturally rich texts significantly boost motivation and engagement, making the reading process more meaningful. However, learners often report a lack of confidence and express a need for explicit instruction in reading strategies to better navigate linguistic and cultural challenges. This study highlights the importance of integrating cultural dimensions into reading practices to enhance both linguistic and intercultural competence. Keywords: intercultural approach, reading, motivation, language skills.
