A Comparative Assessment of Anthropometric Characteristics in Judo and Wrestling Athletes from Ahilyanagar District
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine and contrast a few chosen anthropometric traits of wrestling and judo champions from Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar District. The study looks at the potential effects of physical characteristics on athletes' performance in these two different combat sports, including height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and limb length. This study aims to provide light on the particular physiological factors that lead to success in judo and wrestling by analysing the physical attributes of great players in both sports.A total of 100 male athletes—50 in Judo and 50 in Wrestlers—were specifically chosen to serve as research participants in order to evaluate the anthropometric dimensions of the medalists in these sports from Ahilyanagar District. The age of the subjects ranged between 18 to 25 years and the mean age of the subjects was found to be 21±2.19 years. The subjects were players from various colleges in the Ahilyanagar District who had won medals in intercollegiate competitions in their respective sports. Wrestlers' calf skin-fold measures were much greater than those of Judo practitioners; however, there was no statistically significant difference between Judo and Wrestlers' measurements of their biceps, triceps, or thighs. Judokas' arm length, palm length, and shoulder width were all significantly greater than those of the wrestlers; however, between the Judo and wrestlers, there was a statistically significant difference in arm length and shoulder width, but no significant difference in leg length or wrist width.
