Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Information Disorder Level (IDL) Index: A Study

The rapid dissemination of misleading information in the digital age poses a major danger to both information integrity and societal wellbeing. Researchers have developed frameworks like the Information Disorder Level (IDL) Index, which provides an organised method for evaluating the reliability of digital content, to solve this problem. In this theoretical paper, we investigate potential synergies between artificial intelligence (AI) approaches and the IDL Index. We offer a theoretical framework that makes use of AI-driven methods to improve the IDL Index's capacity to detect and treat information disorders. Utilizing knowledge from information science, communication theory, and AI research, we investigate how AI might support audience profiling, automated content analysis, and source verification in the context of the IDL Index. Furthermore, we discuss the ethical considerations and societal implications of integrating AI into the IDL Index framework, emphasizing the importance of transparency, fairness, and human oversight in AI-powered solutions for information integrity.
