ClimEmpower: Building Climate Resilience for a Sustainable Future
The ClimEmpower project is a European Union-funded initiative under the HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01 program, focusing on empowering regions to adapt to climate change. With a vision of fostering climate resilience in five South-European regions, the project provides tools, data, and strategies tailored to local challenges and opportunities. Key Goals and Activities: Regional Empowerment: Engage regions with high climate change risk and low adaptive capacity. Establish Communities of Practice (CoPs) for stakeholders to co-create climate-resilient development strategies. Tailor strategies to regional needs and maximize reuse and sustainability. Support for Climate Adaptation: Offer data-driven decision support services for strategic planning. Provide educational materials illustrating risks, technological solutions, and best practices. Facilitate knowledge transfer from successful EU projects. Development of New Tools: Create interfaces to the Climate Data Store. Develop climate change hazard and risk assessment services. Implement user-friendly tools for comparing adaptation strategies. Strategic Objectives: Understand regional backgrounds and challenges. Address gaps in climate change data usability. Simplify access to climate data and create practical applications. Empower regions to address climate challenges effectively. Ensure impactful and sustainable use of project outputs. Key Facts: Duration: 36 months Partners: 14 organizations Regions: 5 climate-sensitive areas in South Europe The project aligns with the EU's missions, including "Adaptation to Climate Change," to achieve a climate-resilient Europe. This initiative demonstrates the EU's commitment to addressing climate challenges while promoting regional sustainability and resilience. For more details, visit ClimEmpower.eu.
