Energy Efficiency and Circular Economy for Sustainable Development
Nowadays there is a continuous need to educate and prepare highly qualified personnel for new jobs, to provide students—the future employees—the digital competences necessary for the factories and challenges of the future. Statistics showed that there is a gap of knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of energy efficiency in all activities and the effects on sustainability and climate change. In addition, companies (probably on financial grounds) invest less in training their employees, and only half of them provide or facilitate access for their employees to energy efficiency and circular economy training on these issues. This course will help students (as future employees) to become more familiar with the basic but also the advanced concepts regarding energy efficiency and circular economy, and it will also help them become more aware of the risk of not giving due importance to these very topical societal challenges. The engineer of the future must possess the skills required to successfully respond to new challenges, such as, for example, the energy efficiency of buildings.
