АРХЕОЛОГІЯ ПІВДЕННОЇ УКРАЇНИ У РЕАЛІЯХ СЬОГОДЕННЯ

Summary. The end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century marked a period of intensive archaeological investigation in Southern Ukraine, particularly focusing on medieval and modern monuments. However, the occupation of Crimea by Russia and the military actions in the south-eastern part of the Azov region in Donbass in 2014 significantly altered the situation in these territories. These events made it nearly impossible for Ukrainian scientists to continue their fieldwork. Following the onset of full-scale military actions in 2024, the southern regions of Ukraine, partially occupied by Russian troops, became extremely challenging for the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, as well as for any archaeological investigations. Despite these difficult circumstances, the archaeology of Southern Ukraine is striving to continue its development by adopting new approaches such as digitalization, 3D modeling, and other innovative methods.Key words: Southern Ukraine, archaeology, historical and cultural heritage, military actions, preservation.
