The Rome criteria were revised in 2016, and clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders in children were developed in the Russian Federation on their basis. They summarized foreign guidelines and their own experience, proposing tactics for pediatricians in everyday practice. They discuss functional disorders accompanied by abdominal pain: functional nausea and vomiting, functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, functional abdominal pain. The definitions, classification, and diagnostic criteria for functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome have been clarified from the standpoint of modern concepts. Diagnoses of functional gastrointestinal disorders are not always established in pediatric practice, which is why detailed information about these diseases is provided.
