MULTIDISCIPLINARY ASSESSMENT OF CRISIS RESILIENCE IN ENGLISH AND POLISH POPULATIONS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
Resilience has become a crucial focus across various fields, reflecting the increasing complexity of global challenges such as armed conflict, pandemics, and societal upheavals. This paper presents a multidisciplinary study that compares the resilience-related responses of English and Polish populations to two specific stimuli—"war” and “pandemic"—and examines how cultural narratives, linguistic frameworks, and historical experiences influence emotional and cognitive reactions. Drawing on a sample of 800 participants evenly divided between English and Polish speakers, we utilized the STIMULUS digital platform to capture, quantify, and interpret responses in terms of “brightness indices” and semantic categories. The results indicate that while both groups recognize the severe threats posed by war and pandemics, English speakers tend to use solution-focused and adaptive language. In contrast, Polish speakers exhibit heightened emotional intensity rooted in historical memory and collective trauma. These findings have implications for crisis communication strategies, public policy interventions, and future multidisciplinary research on resilience.
