Role of Governments and Policies in Shaping Commerce Trends
Abstract: The evolution of commerce in India has been significantly influenced by government policies and reforms. From economic liberalization in 1991 to recent initiatives like Digital India and the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), various policies have shaped trade, investment, and overall business dynamics. This paper analyzes the role of Indian governments in driving commerce trends through policy interventions, regulatory frameworks, and digital transformation. The study employs secondary research methods and quantitative data analysis to assess the impact of key policies on economic growth, ease of doing business, and digital commerce. The findings reveal that government-led initiatives have enhanced business efficiency and competitiveness, although challenges such as bureaucratic red tape and infrastructural gaps persist.
