Roadmap to a learning healthcare system in (routine) care context
This roadmap provides guidance for the development of a learning healthcare system in (a routine) care context. It provides a short introduction on the concept of a learning healthcare system, its essential building blocks, and it briefly discusses ethical and methodological challenges concerning the development of a learning healthcare system. Furthermore, this roadmap outlines specific questions and next steps for health centers or healthcare departments to guide the implementation of a learning healthcare system. In this roadmap the Utrecht Cardiovascular Cohort (UCC)–CardioVascular Risk Management (CVRM) is used as a case study. The UCC-CVRM is an example of a project that has dedicated considerable time and effort in building a learning healthcare system and is in the transition phase towards an operational learning healthcare system.
